So often we read a piece of writing that stops us. It makes us look at something we’ve seen every day differently. It shakes us to our core.

That is the power of words.

I love words. I’ve always been a writer—ever since I was a little girl. Writing is the way I process the world.

I write because I have to.
I share it because I want others to feel less alone.
I hope that you always walk away feeling a little more seen.

Read the first book I'll ever write.

What we so rarely see is the work that goes on behind the writing.

The drafts edited and re-edited; the ideas celebrated and then cast away; the words shifted and shaped until the feelings they illicit are just right.

I wanted to give one such example of a line that I wrote earlier today. It didn’t start out this way. But I feel that the place I landed has the most impact.

Here I’m sharing the journey of this one line.
